Fisherman

Zdjęcie fajne, ale chyba pozowane, nigdy nie widziałam nikogo, kto rzucałby sieć na ryby. W sieci łapane są ptaszory, które na Barbadosie są uważane za 'ich' rybę. Po angielsku rybki nazywają się 'flying fish' i faktycznie latają! Wyglądają trochę jak takie wodne rusałki albo inne podwodne stworki. Są składnikiem narodowego dania 'flying fish & coucou', które, jeżeli jest dobrze przyrządzone to, jest pyszne.

Nie przepadam za kartkami z dziećmi, ale ta to coś innego. Marzę o podróży do Czarnej Afryki, planuję spełnić to marzenie w przeciągu najbliższych 5 lat. Najchetniej zostałabym tam wtedy na jakies 3 miesiące i się tutała po kontynencie, 2 tygodnie to stanowczo za krótko.

Tigrinya woman

The card shows a woman from a Tirgay-Tigrinya ethnic group inhabiting the southern and central parts of Eritrea and the northern highlands of Ethiopia's Tigray Region.

Eritrea is a country in the Horn of Africa, it's bordered by Sudan, Ethiopia and Djibouti. The population is estimated to be over 6 million.

Cameroon is located in Central Africa, bordered by Nigeria, Chad, CAR, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Congo Republic. Its population is over 22 million.

Children of Senegal

I have so many cards that need scanning and uploading that I have a real issue deciding which ones I should post first. Maybe the most 'exciting' ones? So here I have a card from Africa, the first one from Senegal. The description is partially covered with a stamp, so I can't read what it says. I recently started liking postcards with people, especially with photos like this one, it's posed and yet at the same time it looks very natural. 

Senegal is a country located in West Africa, its population is about 13 million. The country is named after the Senegal river.

Market in Malawi

Another beautiful postcard from Malawi. A stand with tomatoes and papayas in the foreground. 

The right top stamp shows the first president of Malawi - Hastings Banda, who was the leader of Malawi for over 30 years, from 1961 to 1994, until Malawi archived its independence. He died in 1997.

Mother and son prepare for dancing

A beautiful postcard sent from Vanuatu by Denny. I didn't expect it to arrive, it had been travelling for many months, turned out it was missent to Bermuda.

Vanuatu is an Oceanian island notion located in the South Pacific Ocean. The first Europeans who visited the archipelago in 1606 where a Spanish expedition, led by a Portuguese, and claimed it for Spain.

Roseau market scenes

This is another postcard from my March trip to Dominica. I don't know how many markets there are in Roseau, the capital of Dominica, but there was one located right next to the GPO. It was full of veg and fruit vendors as well as customers, a really really busy place.

All stamps I used on cards are the same, purchased in the GPO.

Fish market in Epe

This is my first postcard from Nigeria, thank you Ahmed! 

The photo shows people selling fish in Epe. 

Third time lucky, my two previous swaps with Nigeria failed, I had never received those cards, so now I am really happy. 

Nigeria is a country in Western Africa, bordered by Benin, Chad, Cameroon, Niger and the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, often referred to as "the Giant of Africa" because its large population and economy.
