Fisherman

Zdjęcie fajne, ale chyba pozowane, nigdy nie widziałam nikogo, kto rzucałby sieć na ryby. W sieci łapane są ptaszory, które na Barbadosie są uważane za 'ich' rybę. Po angielsku rybki nazywają się 'flying fish' i faktycznie latają! Wyglądają trochę jak takie wodne rusałki albo inne podwodne stworki. Są składnikiem narodowego dania 'flying fish & coucou', które, jeżeli jest dobrze przyrządzone to, jest pyszne.

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya is a waterfall located on Zambezi River at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. It's classified as the largest waterfall, basted on its width of 1,708 meters and height of 108 meters. 

Zambia is a landlocked country located in South Africa, it borders Congo, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Angola. The capital is Lusaka.

Another postcard from Saint Lucia, I was lucky to visit this island this year again and still love it and not disappointed.

Prawdopodobnie wyspa jest odwiedzana przez większą ilość Polaków. Gdy przechodziliśmy się po Castries zaczepił nas jakiś lokals i zaczął wypytywać-zgadywać skąd jestesmy. Nie udało mu się zgadnąć, ale po usłyszeniu od nas skąd jesteśmy od razu powiedział 'dobrze'. Dobrze, że nikt nie nauczył go najpopularniejszego polskiego przeklenstwa.

Mud mosque in Timbuktu

The mosque is made out of mud, it usually gets washed by rains and is rebuilt annually.

Sri Lankan elephant

Sri Lankan elephants are native to the island and are one of three recognized subspecies of the Asian elephant. Since 1986 the Sri Lankan elephant has been listed as endangered. The species is threatened by habitat loss, degradation and fragmentation. (wikipedia)

Roseau market scenes

This is another postcard from my March trip to Dominica. I don't know how many markets there are in Roseau, the capital of Dominica, but there was one located right next to the GPO. It was full of veg and fruit vendors as well as customers, a really really busy place.

All stamps I used on cards are the same, purchased in the GPO.

Hermit crab

These crabs have long spirally curved soft abdomens which are hidden in an empty gastropod shell (sea snails) which is carried by the crabs around. The shell, in which the crab can entirely retreat, is used as a protection from predators. Some species use immobile structures as 'homes'.

The Cook Islands is an islandic country in South Pacific Ocean, it comprises 15 islands with the total area of 240 square kilometres. The country is in free association with New Zealand which is responsible for the Cook Islands' defence and foreign affairs. Official languages are English and Cook Islands Māori.

King penguins from Falkland Islands

I love illustrations of animals and this work by Robin Carter is so beautiful! The postcard shows a bunch of kind penguins. The diet of these penguins mostly consists mostly of small fish and squid.

The Falkland Islands are an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean. The main islands are about 300 miles of the southern coast of Patagonia. The majority of Falkland inhabitants are of Welsh and Scottish ancestry.

Temples of Bagan, Myanmar

This was a surprise postcard sent on a behalf of another swapper with whom I'd had some really great swaps. Bagan is an ancient city in Burma/Myanmar.

Myanmar is a sovereign state in Southeast Asia, bordered by Bangladesh, India, China, Laos and Thailand. The population of Myanmar is 51 million people.

Sisserou parrots/Amazonki cesarskie

Postcard showing two sesserou parrots which can only be found in Dominica. The bird is considered the national bird of the Commonwealth of Dominica and is presented on the flag and the coat of arms.

Dominica is an island notion in the Caribbean. It's located south-southeast of Guadeloupe and northwest of Martinique. Christopher Columbus named the island after the day of the week on which he spotted the island - dies Dominica in Latin. Dominica is the youngest island in the Caribbean, still being formed by geothermal-volcanic activity. The world's second largest got spring Boiling Lake is located in Dominica.

The lizard Vincent's Least Gecko is found in the Caribbean islands of Dominica, Martinique, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent.
