Fennec

The fennec is a small nocturnal fox inhabiting the Sahara in Northern Africa, its distinctive feature are big ears. The fennec is the national animal of Algeria and the Algerian national football team is nicknamed 'Les Fennecs'.

Underwater life in Taka Bonerate

Taka Bonerata National Park is located in the Flores sea, it was granted the National Park status in 1992. The national park is considered to contain some of the world's highest marine diversity. It has 261 species of coral, 295 species of coral fish, 244 species of mollusc and other species such as hawksbill turtle, green turtle and Pacific ridley turtle.

Hermit crab

These crabs have long spirally curved soft abdomens which are hidden in an empty gastropod shell (sea snails) which is carried by the crabs around. The shell, in which the crab can entirely retreat, is used as a protection from predators. Some species use immobile structures as 'homes'.

The Cook Islands is an islandic country in South Pacific Ocean, it comprises 15 islands with the total area of 240 square kilometres. The country is in free association with New Zealand which is responsible for the Cook Islands' defence and foreign affairs. Official languages are English and Cook Islands Māori.

Lions from Angola

Beautiful wildlife postcard from Angola. Lions are one of the 5 big cats, they are the second largest cats after the tiger, some males exceed 250kg. The lions live 10-14 in the wild, in captivity they can live more than 20 years. A group of lions is called 'pride' and usually consists of 5-6 females and their cubs and 1-2 males.

Angola is a country located in Southern Africa, it's the 7th biggest country on the continent. it's bordered by Namibia, DR Congo and Zambia. the capital city is Luanda and the official language is Portuguese.

Wildebeests

An amazing postcard from Grace, who's a 12-year-old student girl from Tanzania. About a year ago I donated to www.heartsunity.org and after about 6 months I found this postcard in my mailbox. The amount of $10 is spent on a bag and school supplies. On the website you can read that Tanzania is the 5th poorest country in the world, where the average annual income is less than $400, which means that families of 7 or more have $1 a day to survive. Every little bit helps.

Tanzania is a country in Eastern Africa, bordered by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. The tallest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro, is located in Tanzania. Swahilli and English are official languages in Tanzania.

Wildebeests, also called gnus, are a genus of antelopes. Wildebeests inhabit the plains and open woodland South of Sahara.

Diamondback Rattlesnake/Grzechotnik teksański

Kartkę otrzymałam w ramach wymiany z Abran'em. Ten jadowity wąż dorasta do 120 cm długości i można go spotka od Arkansas do południowo-schodniej i centralnej Kalifornii. Jest on uważany za najniebezpieczniejszego węża Ameryki Północnej.

Swap with Abran. This snake grows to 120 cm in length and is found in the US from Arkansas to southeastern and Central California. It is likely responsible for the second greatest number of snakebites fatalities in the US.

Muskox

The muskox is an Arctic mammal which primary lives in Canadian Arctic and Greenland, small introduced populations live in Sweden, Siberia, Norway and Alaska. Muskoxen are closely related to sheep and goats than to oxen.

Piżmowół jest arktycznym ssakiem zamieszkującym głównie arktyczne tereny Kanady oraz Grenlandię, gatunek został również wprowadzony w Szwecji, Norwegii, na Syberii i Alasce. Piżmowoły są bliżej spokrewnione z owcami i kozami niż z wołami.
