These small (pony-sized) horses are long-lived and hardy. Horse imports isn't allowed in Iceland and exported Icelandic horses aren't allowed to go back home. Developed from ponies and introduced to Iceland by Scandinavian settlers in the 9th and 10th centuries. Their weight varies between 330 and 380 kilograms. (wikipedia)
